The Rockingham Quiz - 01-25-11

Does anyone recognize this little shop below from the early 1980s in Rockingham?

January 26, 2011 - I received a lot of good answers on this Quiz and most of them were right or partly right. Below is the actual photo and a little description of the shop in question:
My mom worked at that store for a while when Johnsie ran it. But, before this it was Homer Benoist's Five Points Grocery or as we all knew him as "Dynamite". Lane Hudson offered a little tidbit of info on Homer's humor but I remember one also. Does anyone remember Dog Fever? I remember when I first heard of that was when me and Dad was in Homers store one day and Homer came up to me and said he had been sick. He got right up close to me to see if he still had a fever....as I got closer to him, he barked like a dog real loud and scared the crap out of me. That was Dog Fever..

"Phyllis, your are right, it also was a drapery shop owned by Kieth and Donna McKenzie. After that I think it was a church."

  12. Hey Steve - do you remember when your granddaddy Homer always had a boat in his pond at Christmas and had Santa setting in it fishing? Those were truly some simpler days and it is always good to think back to those days that are missed by so many.
